Extended Policy Coverage

Death Disability and Retirement (DDR)
Physicians who turn age 50 and have been insured for at least one year at a mature rate are eligible for tail coverage on retirement from the practice of medicine for no additional premium. Additionally, insured physicians who die or become totally disabled and can no longer practice medicine are eligible for tail coverage at no cost.

Employment Practices Liability (EPL)
A physician may recover up to the policy limit of $25,000 the cost of legal defense associated with any claim for employment related practices such as wrongful termination, discrimination, sexual harassment, or other personnel management activities.

Medefense (MD)
This coverage is included in the regular policy premium and provides for payment of legal expenses associated with the defense of an insured physician for proceedings instituted by professional review organizations, state licensing boards, HHS for Medicare or Medicaid fraud or abuse, or actions associated with violation of HIPAA. Each claim has a deductible of $1,000 and pays up to $25, 000 in legal expenses with an annual policy limit of $25,000. This coverage does not pay for fines, judgments or other costs assessed to the physician for these activities
