Structure of UMIA

USMA Insurance Management Company (USMA-IMC) manages the day to day operations of Utah Medical Insurance Association. USMA-IMC is the Attorney-In-Fact for UMIA and is owned by the Utah Medical Association. Operating under a Management Agreement with UMIA and a Power of Attorney signed by Subscribers (Policyholders), USMA-IMC makes all essential decisions necessary to operate UMIA. These include establishing rates, managing claims, entering into reinsurance arrangements, making payments for losses and defense expenses and other ongoing operations. The Board of Directors of USMA-IMC makes the important operational decisions and these items are presented to the Board of Governors of UMIA for ratification.
